Characterization-"of Mice and Men" (by John Steinbeck)

Lennie is a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws. His arms did not swing at his sides, but hung loosely. He has a mind of big baby, always likes to feel or touch things with his hand. He never thinks about the things he can touch. He has an impulse to do the things he wants to feel. That let him get into many troubles. But he never solved the problems by himself because he always goes to get help from George and depends on him. They have a plan to own an acre of land and a shack they can call their own. Lennie always thinks about the rabbits that they are going to tend in the future. He likes the little animals very much and he likes to pet them too. But he always kills them by accident. Lennie didn’t talk too much; he always listened to George. George treats him as a kid and takes care of him.

Lennie is important in the novel because this story is about him and George’s experience in life. If the story was without Lennie, then all the things or event wouldn’t happen because those problems are mostly caused by Lennie. Like they have to run out of the Weed because Lennie has touched a girl’s skirt. I won’t like a friend like Lennie, eventhough I choose him to wrote about, because he is so dependant on other people and gets into a lot of trouble. I don’t think I can take care of that kind of friend and solved the problem for him or her, cause sometimes I get into trouble too.
